Spectrum License Identification for Geographic Analysis Tue, Mar 18, 2025

When you are either chasing an interference issue at a market border or trying to identify licenses for a new business opportunity, the FCC ULS system is not helpful finding licenses that meet a geographic criteria.    Using our Web Spectrum Viewer, we can pull up Spectrum Ownership Maps that detail the licensee for each county by channel.  In the map view below, we are showing the second license (P2) in the CBRS spectrum for the state of Oklahoma.  These are based upon the default channel assignments from the Spectrum Access System (SAS), rather than the FCC post auction assignments.
In the spectrum ownership maps, the major carriers are color coded, thus all of the red counties are markets where Dish controls the P2 channel.  As you "fly over" counties with your mouse, the county and licensee (carrier code) is displayed at the top of the legend.  For this example Le Flore, OK is selected and the licensee is "GAA".  This indicates that there is not a private license (PL) for this channel and it is available to General Authorized Use.
Looking at the CBRS P6 channel for Oklahoma, we can see that Verizon controls the license over Oklahoma City (Oklahoma County), and Cox controls the channel in Bartlesville (Washington County).  If I was interested in Sequoyah County, I can see that Windstream controls that license.

To get additional details on that license, clicking on Sequoyah County will open the Spectrum Grid which highlights all of the CBRS licenses in Sequoyah County.  It is easy to see that Windstream has the full 40 MHz CBRS allotment available.

Clicking on the cell for the P6 channel opens up details for that license including the callsign and licensee information.

From this license detail view, the call sign (WRLN44) and the licensee (Windstream Services II, LLC are both available and clicking on the callsign will open the FCC ULS page for this license where the license status and contact information is available.
